[BLAST_SHIFTS] Evening Shift May 2, 2003

Coda problems dominated this shift. Coda would not download a
run and thus began an exhaustive root cause analysis via telephone
involving several resets, reboots, serial cable->blrocf2 / blrocf3 /
TSVME swaps etc . with Tancredi (who can provide more information on
the troubleshooting). Unfortunately no data was taken.
In light of this I finally read the BLAST DATA TAKING rough draft and
propose a section on detailed standard procedures for troubleshooting
problems like:
"prestarting a run failed"
"downloading a run failed"
"ending a run failed" etc.

On the up side DH worked with TZ to get a beam halo monitor that displays
*normalized* BQM rates (this is still a work in process)

If CODA is regained the plan for the next shift is:

Take WC data with

1) good beam: BQM rates 150 Hz
                        300
                        60
                        60

with empty target,

2) then with 0.1 SCCM, 50k events

3) then with slits open to give 2x BQM above for 50k

4) then with slits open to give 4x BQM above for 50k

and watch WC response to this.

Additonally some TOF studies could be done to check a few channels
that are giving a lower signal than the norm. (this may be best left to
the TOF group however)
