Hello Blasters!
this could be useful for those of you that want to keep an updated BLAST
web-page for their project. Since I got tired of shuffling tar files or
logging in remotely, I created a CVS repository for the recoil web page.
The repository can be queried using
cvs -dblast@blast02.lns.mit.edu:/scratch/blast/webpage_cvs/CVS
for reasons of space, I did not back up the whole html directory but only
my subdir: /usr/local/httpd/html/detectors/Recoil_webpage
when I do
cvs -dblast@blast02:/scratch/blast/webpage_cvs/CVS checkout Recoil_webpage
I start a CVS wdir on another computer. There I can do all the changes, add
and commit them to the repository. This is my preferred way to post meeting
minutes and make changes. The blast02 directory with the recoil webpage still
has to be updated manually but (soon) this will be done automatically with
the cron job.
All this seems to work well. I realize of course that is not good if
your webpage is in any subdir other than html/detectors. For instance: targets,
software or daq. If you think you can use CVS for your webpage but your webpage
is not in /usr/local/httpd/html/detectors/ on blast02 let me know, and I can
think of a more far reaching solution.
Ciao,
tancredi
