[BLAST_SHIFTS] Shift Summary 8/30, 12:00-20:00

From: Bill Franklin (wafrankl@mit.edu)
Date: Sat Aug 30 2003 - 21:31:59 EDT

On shift: Bill Franklin, Richard Milner

Hydrogen asymmetry data were taken for most of this shift. Runs 2258-2267
were taken and crunched. Beam was very stable throughout with low halo
rates. Because of this, the maximum fill current was raised from 100 to
110 mA. The Compton polarimeter absorber thickness was raised from 1" to
1.5" after this was done, but there was little effect on halo rates or
wire chamber spectra. The high voltage trips which plagued the previous
shift mostly went away after the D-tunnel was cooled down by installing
fans and opening doors. At one point, communication with the BLAST ROC
was lost, which interrupted data acquisition for about 30 minutes.

At 19:30, the atomic fraction was measured and determined to be 45% (down
from 49% 24 hours earlier).
