The BQM photo-tubes and signals are just fine and it was not your fault.
What happened last night was a problem with bad signals being fed from
controls to an analog FIFO. That unit is solely used to give an analog
copy of the BQM to controls for development of an analogue read out. This
was not the way it was planned to happen. Also, such analogue copy is not
used to tune the beam right now.
Therefore, I completely disconnected the FIFO and this problem will not
re-appear.
Also, I left a simple "tune_bqm" script that will do all the right things
for you to turn on the BQMs after an hvDaemon session. Then you can simply
use the "BQMHV" and "BQMHV oper" commands.
Either run hvDaemon or BQM but not both, since they use different means
of communication and this somehow confuses the crate network interface.
Also, please note there is a problem with the leftTOF hv crate. It will be
replaced next week or earlier if absolutely needed. You may have to go to
the D-tunnel and cycle the crate. But it's pretty stable once only hvDaemon
is running.
