[BLAST_ANAWARE] question about the spuds

when i try to log into spud3, spud4 spud7, or spud8, it refuses to let me
in and then gives me the following error message (after three password
failures):

Permission denied (publickey,password,keyboard-interactive,hostbased).

however, i can log into any of the other four spuds.

i was having this problem last night, too, except that last night i
couldn't log into spud2, either.

does anyone know what's up?
